Fire Chief – FULL TIME - Town of Chester, Vermont

The Town of Chester is seeking an experienced, visionary, and community-focused leader to serve as its next Fire Chief.
This is more than a department leadership position—it is an opportunity to shape the future of an organization that provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, emergency management, and public safety leadership for the communities of Chester and Andover.
As Fire Chief, you will lead a dedicated team of career and part-time personnel while fostering a culture centered on professionalism, training, safety, accountability, and service. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, the Chief is responsible for strategic planning, budget development, policy implementation, personnel supervision, emergency response, regulatory compliance, and long-range organizational growth. The Chief also serves as the Town Fire Warden and plays a key role in municipal emergency management and community risk reduction.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fire service professional with strong leadership abilities, outstanding communication skills, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of firefighters and EMS providers. Candidates should possess extensive fire service experience, supervisory experience, Firefighter II certification (or equivalent), Fire Instructor I certification, Hazardous Materials Operations certification, Pumping Apparatus Driver Operator certification, and an active Paramedic license. Fire Officer II certification and Vermont Critical Care endorsement are highly desirable. The successful candidate must be committed to maintaining the department’s high standards while embracing innovation and preparing the organization for future challenges.

Firefighter/Paramedic Full-Time
Chester Public Safety is excited to announce a new full-time Firefighter AEMT/Paramedic position. The ideal candidate will be a Firefighter/Paramedic. The minimum qualifications are a Firefighter/AEMT. The candidate would have the ability to achieve their Paramedic License within two years. Candidates will also have a strong passion for community-oriented health care.
Candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills:
1. Possess a valid Vermont AEMT/Paramedic license.
2. Possess a current Pro-Board Firefighter I/II
3. Possess a Highschool diploma or GED.
4. Ability to pass a background check.
5. US Citizen, 18 Years of age or older.
6. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
7. Possess a valid VT driver’s license
Pay range $28.00 - $35.00 per hour, Four 10 hour shifts per week
Excellent Benefit package, including health insurance, VMERS Plan D
