WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of a VT GD 2 Domestic WW Operator Certification preferred but will train the right applicant

- Two years applicable experience in all phases of water/wastewater system operation and maintenance preferred
- Significant knowledge of Vermont regulatory and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with all conditions of water and wastewater permits preferred.
- Ability to deal with the public in a positive manner
- General contracting and basic maintenance skills a plus
- Willingness to work alongside other departments

FINANCE OFFICER/STAFF ACCOUNTANT
The Town of Chester is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer/Staff Accountant to maintain financial records. The Finance Officer’s responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget processes, conducting internal audits, oversight of payroll and accounts payable. To be successful as a Finance Officer, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Finance Officer should also have excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:
- Maintaining financial reports, records and general ledger accounts.
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, account reconciliations and monthly close processes.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements and assisting with audits.
- Reconcile bank statements, petty cash funds and other accounts monthly
- Oversees daily report of cash receipts, accounts payable and payroll.
- Assists in preparation of annual budget
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in a government setting.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills and ability to work with accounting software. Experience with NEMRC preferred.
- Detail oriented, accurate, analytical and organized.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, municipal officials, general public and business partners.
POLICE LIEUTENANT
The Town of Chester is seeking an experienced law enforcement individual to serve as Police Lieutenant. This person will have a strong desire to provide the highest quality police services to the department and to the community. The Chester Police Department serves a population of approximately 3,144 residents and covers an area of approximately 56 square miles.
The Lieutenant is responsible for immediate supervision and control of all Department personnel and is personally responsible for their efficiency and effectiveness. The Lieutenant is second in command of the Department and is subject to the direction and control of the Chief. The applicant must possess strong leadership and administrative abilities with ten (10) years minimum full time law enforcement experience. Consideration will be given to total years of service in as much as they translate into evident knowledge and experience. Preference will be given to having previously held the rank of Sergeant.
