The Select Board is the legislative body of the Town and enacts ordinances and regulations as required for the health, safety, and welfare of the residents. The Board prepares an annual budget for approval by the voters at Town Meeting.
The Board meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall. The agenda for each meeting is finalized on the Friday immediately before the meeting. Individuals are welcome to speak to the Board under Citizens Comments on matters not included on the agenda. Meetings are recorded by the Springfield Area Public Access and are played locally for those individuals who subscribe to the local cable television.

The Selectboard of the Town of Chester, Vermont, will hold a Public Hearing pursuant to 20 V.S.A. § 3546 as well as the Town of Chester Dog Ordinance on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Chester Town Hall, Second Floor and via Zoom, to hear evidence and receive testimony on a complaint of a "vicious dog" concerning a dog named Dutchess owned by Mitchell Horton presently residing at 659 Davidson Hill Road in Chester, Vermont.
