The Planning Commission is responsible for all planning-related matters and includes writing the Town Plan, and Zoning, Subdivision, and Flood Hazard Regulations. Commission meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall.
The State of Vermont has embarked on a new energy plan to meet 90% of the State’s energy from renewable sources by 2050. The Town of Chester may participate in this goal by adding an energy plan chapter to our Town Plan, giving us a voice in this matter. The Planning Commission has recently started the process of updating the Uniform Development Bylaws. The Bylaws are the Town’s zoning, subdivision and flood damage prevention regulations. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Monday of the month at 7pm and will hold numerous meetings throughout the fall and winter months to discuss bylaw modifications. All meeting are open to the public and participation by the public is strongly encouraged. Please be on the look-out for notices of upcoming work sessions in November and December.
