The Planning Commission is responsible for all planning-related matters and includes writing the Town Plan, and Zoning, Subdivision, and Flood Hazard Regulations. Commission meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
The Planning Commission has recently started the process of updating the Uniform Development Bylaws. The Bylaws are the Town’s zoning, subdivision and flood damage prevention regulations. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Monday of the month at 6:30pm and will hold other meetings on different days to discuss bylaw modifications. Four chapters of the Chester Town Plan are being amended to meet a variety of requirements from the Town of Chester and the State of Vermont. The amendments are working their way through the adoption process. As of May, 2019 they are being reviewed one chapter at a time during Select Board meetings. The chapters being amended include:
